Placing the signs and participative imprints of our Belgian creators.
Being more than simply objective, contemporary jewellery can exert another kind of fascination.
The creations that Belgium has selected for the Triennial recall the obvious fact that these works go beyond jewellery as objects. Melded into the context of their execution, and made valuable by the artists’ participative action - a prolonged crafting - they are subsequently reshaped by use.
By observing the signs to be found in these compositions, and noting where they (re)appear, we discover these markers and conquerors of a different kind of beauty, shorn of any determinism.
We are on familiar ground with these creations, which are part of our human stories. They are our imprints, an art that stays close to our lives, gems to be shared.
